What will this little old lady swallow next for Halloween? She starts swallowing a bat, owl, cat, ghost, goblin, bones, and a wizard to cast a spell so she could yell Trick or Treat. This is a great and funny book to read during the month of October. While reading this story you could have the students be on look out for rhyming words. A comprehension activity for this book could be a sequencing activity. Students can either write their answers or be allowed to use pictures to place the events in sequential order. Students could use write their own version of the story based on what they would swallow during Halloween to practice their writing skills. This book could be used as an introduction for a science study about bats.
